    Liberator pistol

Is $1500 a fair price to pay for a minty Liberator pistol with the original ammo in the grip and has a light coat of green paint that was apparently put on to protect the metal. It should come off with little or no trouble. No pics yet. Just need a quick yes or no so as to drop pursuit or get on the stick!
    Thanx,

I would check for some recent sales on the internet. The Liberator was bringing prices way beyond it's rarity at some of the auctions. I think prices have come back down, but not too sure how far. The ones that are still boxed with everything that originally came with then are the most desirable.
Someone is making a modern replica for $600, which seems out of line for a metal stamping.

      Tim,

Assuming the paint can be removed without damage to the metal surface, I think that price is very reasonable. Try to be sure it has the original grip bottom. A lot of those were lost and replaced with a reproduction. Even with a repro bottom, the price seems good to me.

Liberators with electropencilled serial numbers were imported (from Canada?) some years ago; the SNs were added to comply with US laws...
