    Opinions on MP44 webbing sling

Is this one real, got it from an old collector who stopped collecting.
Whas sold 'then'as a orriginal webbing sling for the 'MP44'.
If real, what can be the value, want to sell it.

    Thanks!

            MP44 webbing sling

            Hi,
I don't know if yours is real or not but Ulrich Etzel regularly had these on his stall at The War and Peace Show at Beltring (can't say I noticed any this year though).
The marking purports to refer to the MP44 and VolksturmGewehr 45.
Interested to hear what the experts think.
            Good hunting,
            Grossfuss

              MP44 Sling

Etzel is known for selling “dubious” items, so that does not give credulity to the originality at all. This one may be Ok; the stamp I highly doubt is period. These have been around for a long time, many doubt the authentically of these, they are mentioned in the Collectors Grade book on the MP44’s. If I’m not mistaken the author questions these as well.

The one shown here is a repro. The originals are natural (very light tan) fabric with a coarser weave with darker leather inserts and are stamped in block letters MP44 VG45. They are usually found on the various versions of the Volksgewehr, but not the Gustloffs (a.k.a. VG1-5) which used a permanently attached sling made from a shortened gasmask strap.
I have never seen an original with an RB Nr.
Insofar as originality goes, there is a sling of this type on a VG1 in the Springfield Armory Museum.

Claus Espeholt has some opinions on this sling:
