    American made FG42

    Hi,

Not sure if this is where this should be but I just wanted to say if you have any interest in the FG42 rifle you might want to go to our website at: smgguns.com and look at our latest project. It is an American made, semi auto, second model FG42 that we are trying to bring to market in the near future - this year.
We are not affiliated with the other FG project that has been ongoing here in the states and will be selling complete rifles for less than half of the prices you are used to seeing in the past on similar rifles. Please take a look and tell me what you think!

I've followed up on these and the german made ones at Kulmbach HZA, even the G43 would be about 4k to import, and from those I've discussed it with who have FFL license, you still may have BATF hang it up in customs. For sure the FG/MP44's as configured with pistol grip, mag capacity, AND lock of a mag lock will prohibit any of these from legally entering California, very sad.

Why not a first model? It is such a more striking looking weapon.

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.

2 of the PTR44s have made it to CA. I personally know one forum member who owns one that got it in. It has a fin attached to it to be legal. The Calguns forum has some posts showing pics of one of the guns and discussions about it. Sorry, don't have the link.

...that hasn't been ruled out, but would have been more expensive to build from what I was told. The company (don't know how - it is on the hush hush) that apparently took over the FG42.us project is building a Type 1, but it is rumored to start at $12,000 a pop. No frickin' way am I paying that mush for a non FA gun.

I've got a Shoei type I copy. For the price, 1100 in 95, they are really nice and well made for what they are. I could also not fathom paying 12k for one. Half that maybe, but at some point, its just too much, unless your cash flow is pretty hefty, and even then, although it fires, its still a copy. I have a feeling though they will appreciate.

Here is the real McCoy from a 1957 machine gun catalog.
Being the intelligent and discriminating collector that I am, I chose not to buy this gun because I thought the price was waaay too high!

Back in those days a dewat (deactivated war trophy) was simply a live weapon with a plugged barrel!
