Is this pigskin and does it look right for a p-38 what about the skulls? and most important what is it worth?

Ed, I would need to see the inside to tell if your pebble grained holster is truely pigskin. Likely not. One rarely sees pebble grained pigskin. Mostly cowhide.
The skulls look original although I am no insignia expert. If they are they might be worth more than the holster.
The holster with no skulls is likely in the $125 area tops. Need to see the back...

It could be pebble grained pigskin. Look at the other side of the leather to see if it has the characteristic scattered hair follicles of pigskin. It is constructed like a P.38 holster, but can only see half of it. GI's loved to put German insignia on holsters and such.
The loading tool pocket in this LP.08 holster is made of pebble grain pigskin. On the rough side you can see the characteristic hair follicle pattern of pigskin.
