      From the provided pictures (and I am not taking the SS/RZM into consideration) the sling looks very "postwar" surplus to me. The makers marking is certainly 100% fake. Just look at the impressed "1944" and it is clear to see it was added. And the SS/RZM marking is undoubtebly added (fake).
      In my opinion, leather slings with ss property marking is possible (as I have seen quite a lot of stuff with real ss-property markings), but the RZM add-on clearly gives it away as bogus!

        I could be wrong but I was under the impression that the pin that retains the buckle to the leather should be ground flat. I don’t know if this is on all makers but I was told to look at this as a post war indicator

          Absolutely!...there was however late war models that wasnt ground flat on some manufacturers however not as pronounced as this one.

            Gentlemen I thank you for all your help. The sling came together with the de-act MP44 I am now selling on estand (well I hope to sell anyhow) At least that one was original. Now I know what to look for next time
