    Replica MP40 by Nakata

    Hi
Can anyone give me information about a replica MP40 made by Nakata in japan.I have some information about it,that it was supposed to be superior to the MGC made MP40 and that it was already able to fire blanks. Can anyone confirm this or would be able to give some more information on it.

    Thanks

    Hi 1st,

Can't help you with that particular make of replica.
But if you are after a model that fires blanks, take a look in 'Gun Mart'
magazine, they quite often have them in there.

    Good luck.

    Steve.

I had a Nakata MP40. It's a good accurate replica but the reciever is made from cast zinc unlike the MGC which is steel. Because of this fact, it's not possible to convert the Nakata to fire 9mm blanks as the forces generated would crack the zinc and would be very dangerous. The MGC is the only MP40 replica that I know of which can be converted.

The Shoei MP44 is a lovely replica but it's a not a real blank firer. It's a shell ejecting model gun. I think they sell for about $1500.

To convert the MGC MP40 to blank firing, you have to machine a completely new steel bolt, firing chamber and a few other bits and pieces. It's a lot of work and has to be done right otherwise you could end up seriously damaging yourself.

Anyone in Canada ever bought a replica non firing gun? Strict Gun Control Laws here, but just curious if they apply to Replica non-firing firearms as well.

Hi Shane, I know a guy in Canada who owns a replica Thompson machine gun but I think he owned it before the ban came into effect so he's allowed to keep it. You can find him on the machinegunbooks.com forum. I think his username is chitowngangster

                        Hello gents

I haven’t had an MGC converted but from what I have found out the replica is reinforced to with stand the pressures of a 9mm Para Blank. From what I have heard this is done by machining a new bolt fitted with a firing pin, a new chamber is turned up and fitted, some people I know say that they have also had the Recoil tube assembly replaced with a more robust one. As most of the internal components are not robust enough for 9mm blanks. They were only designed to function with PFC cartridges.

I also believe that there is a sleeve that is fitted inside the receiver tube at the end to add reinforcement to the rear end as I have heard reports of distortion to the receiver tube under the stresses of automatic fire using 9mm blanks. There is also a few little things done here and there, The receiver tube is strapped to the TMH “Trigger mechanism housing” again to keep the thing from shaking to pieces, some people also have the rear end cap welded to the receiver tube where it says “MP40 MGC”.

I haven’t got any pics to show you what modifications are done to the MGC MP40, maybe benVK could kindly post a few pics of his with the different parts to illustrate what I am talking about.

Hope I have enlightened you guys a bit about the MGC Conversion
