Unusual Lewis Gun Ammo Box

Found this box at the caboot sale this morning, label to the front says "LEWIS GUN AMMn", any ideas, it measures 8 3/4"x 8 3/4" x 6" deep, is this big enoungh to hold 2x Lewis Gun drums, it obviously bolted to a vehicle or something ?

I own a live Lewis, and have never seen a box like this. Neither have I seen or heard of a reference......
That said, there's a lot of stuff out there that isn't in the books!

This would be well worth researching further.
