    Leuchtpistole 34 Zink form Erma-Erfurt

    Hi,
I am new here in this Forum and firstly want to say hello. My main interest and field for collecting are flare guns.....very interesting and divers. I have quite a few guns in my collection and want to show some from time to time as there are always some questions and pictures to share. As I have seen there are more people here in this forum with the same interest and deep knowledge.

Here I want to show a nice late-war LP34 in Zinc wich I got last month or so. I have 5 Zink now, but this one is somehow special. The Zink Models were produced in 1944 and 1945 as Aluminium got rarer and rarer. At this time the manufacturers name was normally coded (ac, ayf, duv). This particular gun has the manufacturer´s name written in full at its left side - Erma Erfurt (=ayf) like the pre 1940 guns and no military proof stamps, only one proof stamp (imperial eagle) for handguns for special purpose on both barrel and frame (right side). Furthermore there is the Manufacutrer´s name, the Serial numer on both frame and barrel (above the main bold which is unusual), the Stamp `Zink` for the material and a proof mark from the police (EagleF`). The condition of this gun is 1- and it came in a very unusual holster. I am really wondering if somebody wil know what holster this is, similar in style to the standard german flare gun holsters made of leather or Ersatzstoff, but made from linnen and leather. Very unusual and I have never seen it before (but I do know what it is ;-))

As for the pictures......am not too sure how to post pictures here as I am not supporter yet, so I add a link from a webalbum where I uploaded them.

I would be very glad if anybody (mabe signalman??) can add some mor detail about the gun and the holster.

    Enjoy the pics!

Hallo Bergler, welcome to the WAF. A wonderful gun and holster. I still look for the Erma zinc variation with police acceptance. I have only one of the military styles. I track the serial numbers and the first zinc police I list is in the 71xx range. The last are in the 88xx range. These are perhaps the last of production that Erma started in 1937 with serial numbers with letter following. Walther also produced some zinc pistols but with E/C.

And the holster is wonderful. Though the police did produce some canvas holsters with leather edges for their small caliber pistols, and paper holsters for the P08 in 1943. But leather was found for those P38 holsters of 1943 and 1944.

Hi Joe, thanks for the compliments! You mentioned that Walther made Zinc LP´s with eagle/C also? I would be very interested in some details about this. The reason therefore I will show in another thread later on ;-)
All my other Zinc variations are from Walther, both with Walther banner and also coded (ac). No `duv` yet.

            Hi,
is your flare gun stamped exactly the same.....like Serial Numer on barrel above main bolt (which is ununsual)? And `zink` and not `zink4` as I would normally expect?
            Regards,
            Martin

              Hi bruno,

very interesting Zinc variation.......the other side of the gun would be great to see. I have nearly the same, ac43 in Zinc, but with the ribbed wooden grips, and some very very unusual and rare marking on the other side. That is why I would be interested in seeing yours as well.

Today was a good day again....saw some more than rare flare guns (which I will get many moons in the future....) and got a nice steel LP26 which has to be restored a bit. I already started on it ;-)

                Hi Martin,
Here is the other side. No special marking (unfortunatly)

                What's on yours ?

And, by the way, waiting for seeing your LP26.

                Regards

                  Hi Bruno,

thank you very much for the pic of the right side. I will open another thread for the ac43 Zinc with special marking next week. I Think it is best to deal with different items in seperate threads. The LP26 is in parts now, lying in Ballistol or a vew days and will be reassembled next week also. This one is nothing really special, but still not too often to find.

By the way, how do you insert your pictures directly? I think you are not supporter either. Maby you can show me how I can paste Pictures in my threads.

                  Greetings,

                  Martin

I also got my hands on a zinc Erma LP 34. With a very low serial number, 469a.

Will post some pictures later this weekend.

I have steel LP34 from Walther, with this special (heart) marking. This is good marking.
