A good retailer for K-98 sight hoods?

anybody know a good place to buy K-98 sight hoods? I'm looking for one but other sellers want 30.00 USD for non German ones and repros on ebay.

Josh, if you are looking for one for your Grandfather's K98, be careful not to bugger up the front sight base. When I tried installing my first sight-hood (thankfully on a craptastic RC) I dinged the heck out of the front sight base with my pliers. Original sight-hoods are ESPECIALLY tough to get on, just so you are forewarned.

I had a tool once that was ideal for putting sight hoods on, it was like a pair of pliers that when you squeezed the handles, the jaws would spread open. Unfortunately, someone borrowed them and they never found their way home.

Yes, "us1945" who participates in this Forum has had them in the past. I have bought a number of them from him and, if I recall correctly, the price (several years ago) was around $20 each if you bought in quantity (I think he sold them in lots of 12). My thoughts at the time of purchase were that the price was fair and such original items likely won't always be around "on the loose". My understanding is that the sight hoods, cleaning rods, etc. that us1945 sells come out of Norway from 98k's that are scrapped out as part of Norway's military surplus system.

The pliars someone mentioned are for what we call "snap rings" here in the U.S.; they are reverse-action pliars that when you squeeze the handles together the jaws of the pliars spread open. I bought such pliars at Home Depot and had good success in using them to install the original sight hoods that I got from us1945.
