    arisaka book

    Hey guys,
Ive all of a sudden gone from collecting german helmets to wanting more and more arisaka rifles. They are a lot cheaper and wreak of history. Is there a decent book out there for a novice collector?
    thanks!

Get Military Rifles of Japan, it will help you learn about almost every rifle produced by the Japanese military, from the Murata to the Arisaka (they even talk about matchlocks). They also cover experimental rifles and export/import rifles. The author is on www.gunboards.com (if you go on there, use me as a recommendation, my handle is Josh man). Its 42 dollars.

If you want to go more indepth on certain rifles, the guys at Banzai can help you with that.

Pretty soon, you will forget all about German helmets and you will have an Arsenal of Arisakas, I promise lol.

The best book, IMO, is "The Japanese Type 99 Arisaka Rifle: A guide for the Collector and Historian" by Doss White and Don Voight. This is a recent pub that may already be outta print. Do some searching. It is much better than MRJ which tends to speak in generalities...
