ac 45 "C" Block P-38 With Single Proof Mark

    Hi,
I just picked up a very clean ac45 P-38 at a local military show. The gun is in excellent condition with almost no wear. It is a typical "C" block model with only one proof mark on the right side of the slide. It does have a mismatched slide and frame. I kind of picked it up on impulse, and when I got home thought I might have made a mistake. My cost for this item was $450.00 - Was it a deal, or should I have kept on walking? Thanks in advance for your responses.
    Mike

              Ac 45

You should feel so guilty that you sell it to me. That is the only way you will feel better. How is the magazine marked? Good purchase, enjoy.

                  Hi Mike,

On first glance, it looks like a ac45 "c" block mismatch but....is that marking on the frame "WaA135"? What is the number of the marking on the takedown lever?

                  Regards, Leon

                    Hi,
My original photos really didn't show the proof marks, but this gun contains both WaA135 and 395 markings. I find that very unusual.

                          Hi Mike,

That's what I thought I saw. Also, the takedown lever is marked "135". "135" means Mauser, "359" means Walther. So, what you have is a parts gun with no way of knowing when it was originally put together.

Still, not a bad price for a complete P.38 in nice condition.

                          Regards, Leon

                            Hi Leon,
Based on what you are telling me, I have a clean shooter. I was a bit suspicious due to the 2 different proof marks, but I'm not as well versed on the various P-38 configurations. Thanks for your help.

                              Hi Leon,
I forgot to ask about the un-numbered frame. Some collectors feel this is another interesting feature. Any ideas?
