    Radom Value?

A friend of mine has this and has no idea what it is worth.

It has the shoulder stock groove, black handgrips and waffen proofs. The holster looks non standard and it has one unmarked magazine with it.

More pics can be seen here:

Wow! Now that's a beautiful Type I Radom!

Right now I see one on GB with a buy it now price of $1200...however, the condition is a tad bit less than this one. The holster is a standard US M1911 or M1911A1 holster.

The insignia on it however...not so sure, it almost looks like a 1st SS LAH emblem....just missin' the H? (Or LA for Los Angeles, baby!)

    Truly a great piece!

Brian, Contrary to the enthusiasm previous to my post I would not pay $1500 for this pistol. I would want to know if it is matching first. It DOES have some pretty good wear on the bluing on the right. I would like to know about the magazine markings too..The mag looks good..It's an early pistol. If your Friend is looking for a quick sale or if you are contemplating buying it a good price IMO would be $800. A price to offer it for sale to the general public for quick sale might be $1000. Your friend could sit on it for awhile in this economy for $1200 This is IF it turns out to be matching. If either of the mags turn out to be pre war Polish they could be worth $250. The extra mag if it's German should bring another $100+.
The holster has a fascinating emblem but unless that turns out to be something special the holster is a throw in.

Thanks everyone for all the excellent info. A local gun store offered him $400 but we knew that was way too low.

I will see if he can bring it to the next Max or SoS.

Wait, are you talking to me? I meant GB as in gunbroker. Then again, I've seen their prices fluctuate so much I just go there and bet how high they go. ^^

I was referring to that comment there.... You were in fact talking about the emblem on the grips of the pistol in this thread here were you not?

As Jerry stated I might have been too enthusiastic, but it always fun to see what the dealers are charging.

Oh, no sir! I was talking about the insignia that was added to the 1911 holster that it had been stored in!

                    Sorry about that!
