    Finally after years of searching!!!

OK these pictures suck and i'll get some better ones when i get my camera in hand.... but i have been looking for an "acceptable" correct K98 with the zf rail and i kept running across humped up pieces of BS, a bunch of non matching basement bubba built crap....

BUT!!!! i found this late war BYF44 ALL MATCHING!!! and 100% CORRECT!!! it is absolutely gorgeous. The finish on the metal is about 98%!!! and The wood is beautiful!!! never been messed with at all! and the best part.... the zf rail!! hurray!!! I have now completed a long time quest! i slept good last night!

          K98

Nice piece, but how can you sleep without a scope on it?

I'm in the same boat you were in. Just can't find acceptable K98.

Yes it is an easy task to find a decent zf41 rig, however finding a complete rig with the scope, can, both shades, the brush, and the super hard to find clarinol cloth is not so easy......

The K98 with the rail however is another issue all together..... I ran across a few of them in the last few years, but none of them measured up, and don't get me wrong, i was'nt that picky. hell i just wanted a decent one with a correct rail on it..... finding just that proved hard enough...

speaking of k98's with zf rails i know a few of you guys have seen the AR code k98 that some fool has had on GB for quite a while now.... his description states "the interesting thing about this rifle is that someone probably the German army WELDED a zf rail on it"

Now the BYF that i show here is pristine! I was soooo happy to get a hold of it.
I am in the HGCA (Houston Gun Collectors Association) it is a small (maybe 500) member organization of Serious gun collectors. you have to be sponsored in and then the whole organization has to be O.K. with you as an individual then you are in.... in other words if one member has a problem with you then he can "blackball you" and have your membership denied... anyway these are mostly "well to do" doctors, lawyers, the mayor, mostly big whigs.... But anyway the whole point of me telling you all of this is that it is known throughout the club that I collect pre 1945 German militaria mainly and i had been asking everyone to keep an eye out for a k98 with the zf rail on it..... the only requirement that i had was that the rail be period arsenal installed..... my point is that i would say modestly that i am fairly well connected in the gun collecting community and it was almost impossible "for me anyway" to locate an acceptable k98 with the zf rail......

Now here is a very cool story of how I was given the "honor for lack of a better word" of being offered this rifle.....

At the last meeting The club president (a very reputable and respected man in the gun collecting community) made a few announcements. One of them was " i was emailed by a gentleman who showed me some very fine photo's of all sorts of Third reich stuff. Helmets, Daggers, Medals, ETC. he wants to sell them and has contacted me and asked me if i would make this anoucement because he would like for them all to go to good homes and that the HGCA members would do that, and that anyone who is interested come see me after the show and i will give you his contact info"

so after the meeting i RAN up to him and was the first to get the email address, i promptly emailed the guy trying to get a jump on it and scoop up all of the good stuff! well the next morning rolled around and i checked my mail to find that the guy with the TR stuff had emailed me back. at the bottom of the page he had signed it PAWEL NOWAK!!!!!! i almost sh*t my pants! (if anyone doesnt know who that is run a search on his name on here). so anyway i immediately contacted the president and explained to him that he had just "vouched" for argueably the biggest militaria Con man in the world! he quickly forwarded my email to every member of the Houston Gun collectors Association and the Texas State Rifle association. Long story short I had prevented somewhere around 75 people from getting ripped off by Pawel.

since then i have been getting emails and phone calls from members all over the state thanking me saying that they were in the process of working out a deal with this AS*HOLE. a few said that they were just about to wire him money....

Anyway one of the guys that i had stopped was going to buy two SS daggers and an EK1 from PAWEL NOWAK . he was very appreciative and gave me the opportunity to buy this BYF K98 out of his private collection.

Gentlemen, Yes! I have rarely seen better! Your great display of the ZF 41 scope can and contents got me to thinking...Where have I seen that brush before? I started digging around in my box of gun parts and I find one exactly like this! Green hollow plastic handle, wire wrapped head and very fine bristles. Exactly the same as the one you show.
Odd how we have things we don't even know what they are untill we see such a nice presentation such as yours.

If it is genuine there are folks who need one to complete a rig and will pay $$$

Thanks for the compliment... and thanks to everyone else i appreciate your positive comments.
