    Vacations in Cambodia

    www.danciprari.com/worldtrip/cambodia.htm
On the side you see the pics, and about the middle of the page, the people describe what it felt like. When am I going to Cambodia, to have fun firing rockets and shooting the M60.

I have an US of A acquaintance who did that a couple years ago. Something was wrong and they weren't able to fire the RPG. I dunno that I'd want to risk that anyway. I'll shoot MG's all day long, but I don't trust quality control standards for some of that stuff that goes boom. He did a hand grenade From what I've heard, you can do the same thing in China.

He said Cambodia was a very desolate country and everything was dirt cheap. I could probably think of a few other places in the world I'd rather visit first personally . The title to your thread reminded my of the Dead Kennedy's song "Holiday in Cambodia." Good luck, and have fun and safe trip!

Chaos in Laos, Aruba in Cuba, Coca Cola in Angola!

P.S. Watch out for those pesky land mines!

I am not going there; I was just thinking it would be nice to go there and fire a few rockets before walking on a few mines.

          Hi Jean Loup-
I visited Cambodia in the summer and it is truly an amasing place!! The range of guns to fire is absolutely staggering: M16, M1, M1 Carbine, M60, Colts, pump shotguns, grenades, you name it!! $1 a shot. However if you feel like forking out $100 you get the chance to fire an RPG against a live target: a COW!!! It is absolutely true. For your hard-earned money you get to fire and "blow up" a cow. That is, assuming that you hit the target, of course. The only catch, if you miss, you have no rights over the cow. I have to admit that when a Cambodian guy we met offered me this I was shocked!!!!!!!!!! However, it seems that quite a few gang-ho tourists relish the experience. Pretty sick in my opinion....
As for the rest of Cambodia, it is a crasy place. The killing fields are harrowing and I can not understand how people can take photos of the Choeung Ek memorial, something else that I could not do and that I feel "desecrates" the place. As for the Tuo Sleng prison (S21), and the torture chambers, again it brings me goosebumps just remembering the place. However, Angkor Wat makes Cambodia one of the most exciting destinations I have ever been. Also the Mine museum at Siem Reap is great. Read about it here: http://www.landmine-museum.com/ You DEFINTELY have to read Mr Akira's story, it is UNBELIEVABLE and a wake up call for those who think mass-murdurers and genocide are a thing of the past!!!!!!! And to think that this was happenning in the 70s.....
          All the best

My sister was a medical volunteer in the late 70s at the Cambodian/Thai border refugee camps. She has some stories to tell. She also knows Sydney Schanberg who was played by Sam Waterson in "The Killing Fields", (no physical resemblence).
She visted Cambodia a few years ago, visted Ankor Wat and motorcycled around the country but advises to STAY ON THE ROADS, because ot land mines.

How much did it cost for this experience? It looks like an interested time. How long was the trip? Instead of getting Combat pay, you get to pay for a little combat .

                Jamie-
Things are still the same!!!!!!! For Christ's sake, when taking a leak do not go past the tarmak when the bus stops to let you do your business!! Women: take a towl if you want to be discreet. No joke, the last thing you want to do when having your trousers down is to blow yourself up! All the best
