    98K numbers

    Hello
I have a 98K (DOT 1944) that has all the numbers matching except the front and rear trigger guard screws. Front screw has the number 36 and eagle over 63 and the rear is 32 with K167 marking. Both of these numbers are different than the other numbers that match.
My question is, how much does the two screws effect the value when I sell? Ron

I am sure if you look around you can find unmarked or your correct numbers if someone thinks it makes a big difference. Myself, if everything else is a match, I wouldn't worry about it.

That what I was thinking. I have had it for quite some time and really never paid that much attention it. I think it was like that forever as eveything else is right.
I think collectors place more emphasis on the numbers than the soldiers actually using them or factories producing them . If that is what was available at the time, I don't think they would scrap a screw just because of the numbers. 1944 was getting late is the war anyway.
      Anyway, just my opinion.

Your rifle should have un-numbered action screws (which aren't very hard to find). I think they stopped numbering the action screws by 1942. If you would like to swap, I've got a set of late-war un-numbered action screws.

Can I email you a pic of my screws to see if they are what you want? Thanks, Ron

Since I never heard back from you on just selling the screws. I assume you don't want to? Ron

Yeah, I sent you an email about it, I guess you didn't get it? I sometimes have trouble with my Yahoo! mail account, so it possibly spammed me. The sscrews would be $5 for both, plus $2 for shipping.
