    Quick Question

    Were there any other sidearms the US used in the war besides the 1911A1? Revolvers or another Semi Auto.I have heard of some taking their own or being given some .Thanks in advance

    Sure! Most M1917 revolvers (S&W and Colt) were taken out of mothballs and reissued, many being refurbished in arsenals as well. These were issued until production of the M1911A1 caught up with demand, so to speak. Many M1911s from WW1 were issued as well: in fact, General Omar Bradley carried one...

    The US Navy took to the S&W "Victory" model in .38special, most in 4" barrel configuration, and it also saw service with the USMC. The M1903 Colt semiauto was issued to general officers: many other sidearms were issued for the domestic front, to include the Colt "Commando" and other militarized variations of standard police sidearms.
