          secret recipe?

no idea! But it removes rust w/o sanding. Like wiping dirt off a window. weird

Is it as destructive to the finish as Naval Jelly that also "removes rust w/o sanding" by chemical destruction.

I bought a Luger once that was coated in surface rust. I gave it to a buddy for him to clean it up. He soaked it in RB-17 briefly then lightly rubbed 0000 steel wool over it and a beautifully blued Luger emerged. He oiled it afterwards and he said that this was the closest to a 100% perfect Luger he had ever seen.
When I gave it to him to clean, there was absolutely no blue showing, it was totally brown with surface rust. I thought it was basically a junker but the RB-17 sure convinced me that it was good stuff. I don't know what is in it but I think ammonia is one of the ingredents.
