It may just be me, but the bolt serial number doesn't look right. Those stock cartouches seem kinda funny as well... The rear barrel band (E/1 marked) is from a Güstloff (bcd) K98. I hope I'm wrong about the serial numbers and cartouches, but I don't feel very comfortable about them.

Hi, I would agree as well, the 9 on the bolt clearly is a different font than the numbers on the receiver and barrel. The top of the bolt looks as if it may have been ground and redone.

Fairly good price, but more than just a renumbered bolt- everything is renumbered on it to match the barreled receiver- bands, stock, triggerguard/floorplate, waffenamts on the stock are not original. Sling is one of the chinese repros as well. Still, you got a decent rifle for the price.

Too bad it's too late to get your money back !. Metal & wood have been refinished, as noted stock has been 'glorified' post war , bolt, bolt parts , and bands are hideously renumbered. And yes the sling is a modern made repro. For $375 I personally would not touch such a rifle. If it were unsadned and an honest mismatch that would be different , but when it's been given the waffenfabrik USA treatment by some fraud..... it would make a nice deer rifle is about all. I'd have some concerns wiht the safety of the bolt - the safety of the metal as it looks like the bolt flat was welded up bad before the fraud popped the new numbers on.

                        Hi,
I must admit the only wrong number I had spotted was on the front large floorplate screw.
If it helps, here are the stock markings from an untouched all-matching byf41 K98k.
                        Good hunting,
                        Grossfuss

Thanks gentleman for all the input. I had a good idea the sling was a reprduction and your points about the Sn's,stock markings could very well be the case here. Thanks again David
