    Mike,

I would slow down a bit and not move the PPK just yet, as it needs to be fully discussed here. As some others have indicated, this gun exhibits characteristics of guns that are documented as having been procured by the SS. I'm no expert (but the experts are on this Forum), so I recomend that you do a separate post for the PPK only, with a good title that will catch the experts' attention - somethign like "PPK - SS Issue?" and see what you can find out.

You are setting yourself up for heartburn if you simply go dump the PPK at a show.

      ....

Many thanks, Johnny. My experience in militaria collecting as well.

        Alan,

I will do that right away. I do need some answers by tonight as I leave first thing in the morning. Most of the response -- in emails and PM's -- has been concerning the PPK. So no surprise there.

That said, I bought the PPK at a show in Minneapolis back in the 1990's. I paid an incredible, lowly sum for it. So it's all gravy anyway and I don't look back on things like that. I sold an entire militaria collection starting in 2005 and it ran in the six-figures. And then I move on. Not to worry about getting the last red cent out of things. I will start a thread as soon as I can.

        My best,

        Mike

          Mike,

The SS connection with the pistol was not known (or even suspected) at the time you bought it; this connection has only come out in more recent years by virtue of some very diligent researchers who have been generous in publicly sharing their findings.

Same is true in Badge World, Alan. We are very lucky in this day and age to have the internet and the possibilities of research and information sharing that it has brought to us.

The mags were serial number like that for the SS. Please go over to the P38 forum and post that gun in the PPK section. I think that the PPK experts there will back up my thoughts on it...

i would guess the redone carbine at a few hundred dollars.i would say the 44mag is a 500 dollar gun to a dealer, 700 or so to a private buyer, the sprewerke p38 is a 595 dollar gun to a private buyer, 300 to 350 to a dealer, i do see remnants of a waffen acceptance stamp on it .union switch and signal is 450 to a dealer and 600 to 700 to a private buyer. ppk i don't know a lot, cracked grip , not my cup of tea. how bad is bore on uss 45 why no property of us army stamps? buffed off? 55000 made 1943 only ser 1041405 to 1096404. pm sent good luck p duncan

Is it me or does the serial on the US&S look like a restamp of a nefarious nature.

Good catch on the US&S. I missed the UNITED STATES PROPERTY AND M 1911 A1 U.S. ARMY being removed. I believe the serial number is correct, just sanded almost all the way off to dress down the receiver after taking off the other markings.
It might be a good idea to let the PPK sell the rest of the guns if you want to sell all of them at once.
