    Check out this little Czech

I am a big fan of Czechoslovak pistols. Here is one in my collection, a vz.27 .32 ACP pistol, paired with a 1941-dated holster -

The hammer and trigger retain much of their original straw coloring -

And here are some photos of the holster -

Believe-it-or-not, one of the greatest challenges in collecting one of these pistols is to find one whose grips are not chipped at the front edge nearest the toe of the magazine -

Great looking pistol, I have two of those early wars too, but I never saw the holster for it. It looks great

Nice pistol buddy. Once again a great display too! You've got a real eye for them.

I've had a handfull of the CZ27 pistols over the years - well made . I've had a couple CZ24's and found them generally lacking in good resoil springs as in general they often did not feed well due to the weak mainspring and if held loosely tended to not fully chamber the next round.
Have had a wad of Vz24 & Vz33 rifles... not much a fan of the czech rifles as their sights tended to be a bit on the meek side and the fat grip of the stock left alot to be desired.

My Great grandpa brought one back in .380 and unfortunately it was stolen many years ago. When I get around to buying a German pistol, I am going to make sure that this is the first one I get.

Thanks to all for the kind comments about my Vz.27 pistol rig and my photography. Funds being limited I have had to cut back on firearms purchases and so have lately really gotten into and enjoy photographing what I have collected thus far.

At one point I had a 1928-dated Vz.24 pistol in my collection, but, decided to part with it when I began focusing my collection on WWII. I had shot it a few times and it seemed to function as well as my Vz.27 pistol, however, mine may not have seen as much use as yours and so the recoil spring may have had more "spring" in it .

I do agree with your assessment of Vz.24 rifles though. Despite my love of the Czech Lion crest on the receiver I have yet to find a rifle with a decent bore that shoots worth a damn. Also, given the fact I am a "south paw" I find the placement of the rear sling swivel a real bother as it sits right smack in the palm of my trigger hand. Not a pleasant feeling every time you pull the trigger .

Actually, CZ is a designation used with the modern line of Czechoslovak pistols. The original designation was Vzor meaning Model which is commonly abbreviated Vz. You often will see older literature and collectors using the designations Vz.22, 24, 27, 38, 52.

IIRC the CZ designation came into use after the introduction of the Vz.52 pistol used by the Czech military. I'll have to check my reference books on this point.

Thanks for the kind words on my holster. I decided to start a separate thread to give another holster of mine center stage - http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/FORU...59#post3952559

I won't say how much I paid for it, but, I will admit it was not much less than the pistol itself .

                              A very find example of a mid-wartime P27.

                              The holster is outstanding!!
