You have a Zwilling, a combination shotgun and rifle. These were also called "cape guns" and were very popular up to the 30's. The scope looks like a nice 6 power Zeiss. As for value I'd say it's in the $1200-$1500 range.

          Rifle

What are the caliber/gauges, JP Sauer makes some nice firearms, but why are there three claw mounts on the rib of the gun, is that one closest to the breech removeable or does it slide for eye relief? Strange, may be wrong scope for the rig. Still easily $900 up depending on if it was bubbafied anywhere, Need the barrel markings under the forend wood as well

              Sauer

Just find out the caliber, off the wall hard to get calibers do affect value but you cant get hurt at value stated and look carefully at those 3 scope claw mounts on the rib,,,, They should all three be engraved exactly the same, same checkering on the surface or somethings probably been added. Or an eye relieve adjustment of some sort if that one on the breech end looks like it can be adjusted.

                  John,

as previously stated, you have a cape gun. It is marked Sauer, but most probably, it’s not a gun manufactured by Sauer, but only distributed by Sauer. You’ll note it’s marked “J. P. Sauer & Sohn, Zweigniederlassung Berlin“ (J. P. Sauer & Sohn, subsidiary Berlin). Sauer had a sales shop in Berlin (Jägerstrasse 59/60 – the finest shopping area at that time) until ..... 1930 or 1931, don’t know exactly at the moment. It was closed then due to the depression.

All Sauers I’ve seen having not the Suhl address, but the Berlin address were not made by Sauer. In said shop not only Sauer made guns were sold, but also guns of other makers.

Anyway, this will not detract the value of the gun, as it looks really nice.

As the other members I’d like to see photos of the markings on the bottom of the barrel set. Maybe there is a proof date present, maybe some markings by which the maker can be determined.

                  Regards

                  Martin
