It would be nice if the K43 could be imported to the US as a sporting rifle.

these are NOT classified as CR guns...they are newly modern made firearms, by this company....the company is making them new now, today, in 2010 based on original K43 rifles....which means they are most certainly not CR, despite the fact they look like and function like the true CR guns

sadly I doubt any will ever make it to the US....which is just stupid

Its not an assault weapon so I am guessing that it probably could be imported.

                Dear Gents,

It seems amazing to me that these guns cannot be imported to the USA. After all they are just semi-auto rifles and there are more of those in the US in civilian hands than propbably any other country in the world.

Is this some BATF conspiracy to stop the importation of firearms ?

Why can't they be imported to the US ?

                Just interested to know.

                Regards Craig.

It has to be a sporting rifle. It used to be that the rifle was adaptable to sporting purposes(IE no machine guns), Bush Sr banned the import of all semi auto assault weapons. The K43 would be importable because it isnt an assault weapon, the FG42 copy would not be importable because it is an "assault weapon". American gun laws are lenient, but the gun laws that are there are so stupid and they dont make any sense whatsoever. In Europe they ban guns on how they function, in America we mainly ban guns on cosmetics. I dont agree with any gun control, but the European gun laws actually somewhat make sense and I can see their reasoning, in America I just have to sit back and think WTF are they thinking.

                    Thank you for explaining Josh.

I won't even go into the UK laws (hence why I collect in Austria) as they are some of the strictist in the world, however I always thourght America was the land of the free ? I never realised you guys really are starting to get hit over there with stupid laws. I even read the other day that if you buy a repro shoulder stock for a luger and fit it the ATF can arrest you...don't know if thats true but if so it makes no sense.

I'm not sure that the US gun owner has too many friends anymore, in some instances I actually think its easier to legally own some guns in certain parts of Europe.

Anyway perhaps the FG 42's could be imported without the receiver and a US manufacturer could scratch make them over there ? I hope somebody is reading this that is in a position to do that for you all.

If its any consolation both these guns are prohibited in Austria even though they are legal in Germany....but I can walk into my local gun store and buy an Austrian made Steyr AUG.....go figure that !

                    Regards Craig.

That could be done with the FG42, but it cant have over 10 imported parts, because then its an illegal assault weapon. But the barrel cant be imported anymore and it takes a good machinist to make a barrel for these guns. The MP40 might be ok to import if it has the folding stock removed and made so that you cant readily attach the folding stock. I would say either Israel, Switzerland or New Zealand have the best gun laws out there. Belgium is also liberalizing their gun laws from what I hear. More people are getting prohibited from owning guns. I am kinda worried about that because I was diagnosed with a developmental disorder when I was younger and I could be next (if that ever happens I am leaving this country). I dont find it hard to imagine that all collectors from all over the world will have to collect deacts like they do in England within 50 or 100 years.

About the steyr AUG, I am not sure if its an assault weapon over here. What is crazy is that the SVT40 is considered an assault weapon, but the semi automatic FN P90 isnt an assault weapon. I swear Americas politicians are our worse enemy.

In Denmark the BD-44 is for sale right now for a price of around 3100 usd. We have a stupid law that says that if You are not a hunter, your rifle must not be a semi-auto, but converted into a repeater. What a stupid law. No problem when you want to buy a semi-auto pistol. What the hell is the diffrence. My us-m1 carnine is converted into a repeater. It is like having interrupted sex

Its like having interrupted sex over and over again lol. Ive seen UK garands and UK AK rifles and UK AR rifles converted to straight pull. I love the UK and I had a great time living there, but the only great gun experiences I had there was with a friend of my dads who ran a licensed gun range (he had some cool toys). Unfortunately someday in the future Americans will feel your pain.

Saiga sporting rifles are basically AK47/74 with some cosmetic changes and they are imported to the US. Maybe they can do the same with these newly made K43 clones.

I wish they could do this with the BD-44 also.
