    Spanish Civil war gun

Hi. the family of my wife gives me this gun as a gift.
They told me the grandfather used it in the Spanish Civil War.
I don't know if this is a genuine Spanish or exported gun.
Can anybody know country of manufacturing, caliber or whatever info about this weapon? Any info will be gladly received
    No visible markings.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Regards

Might be a Spanish/Belgian copy of a S&W hinged design. No markings on the top of the pistol?

It could have been used during the Spanish Civil War. It looks like one of the hundreds S&W copies made by Eibar gun manufacturers before the war. But without any inscriptions it is just a guess, as hundreds of thousands of such gun were made durign a wide span of time.

Give it a good clean and some markings may appear.

A lot of Smith & Wesson copies were made in Spain. I remember one that was marked on the barrel rib with FOR in tiny letters, then SMITH & WESSON in large letters, followed by CTG'S in tiny letters. When you looked at it you only saw the Smith & Wesson if you didn't read it carefully.
