See what they´re going to melt down...

    Hi folks,

I know this subject was duscussed here before, but it still makes my heart ache... I was on another forum and see two threads that caught my attention. They show WWII era weapons that were collected by the UNO observers to be melted down.

While you all and me spend a lot of ca$h every year to get some decent stuff those "smart" guys are pacifying the Bosnia melting those historical pieces...AAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!

sad part is that I can just seat here in front of monitor and watch... how history is melting down...

the same happened in my home country Poland... for years everything was melted down.... tanks.,. guns, weapons, planes... I remember a story from 60's - it was in newspapers... they found a Ju52 in a lake (wreckage was tearing fishermans nets) - after excavation everybody were happy that of aluminium from a plane they made a tens of thousands of spoons and forks ...

the worst story is not so old - happened in the mid-late 80's. In my home city there was the biggest in Poland movie "factory" - small hollywood many movies came out of there.. including a lot of war movies...
ofcourse it was national - there was no private companies that time... so when bussines was going down.. and the system too.... they decided to save money by selling buildings - warehouses,.... so they had to make them empty before sale....
thats the horror now... : nobody knows how many.. but about 20-30 thousands of uniforms was destroyed within few years.
many collectors in my City has uniforms stolen from this warehouses by "smart" personell, till today.... including smocks... camo jackets etc.

a men i know was working there for many years - he in person took out about 150 uniforms - he has a great collection, also sold many of them to the west... uniforms from that warehouses are easy to recognize - most of them has a red round stamp and a warehouse number....

ach... I wish I could be collecting that time - but I was only few years old....

      Thompsons

      Doug,

I thought you might want to know that in Russia they still have "Thousands" of Thompson submachine guns from the "Lendlease" program.

I often receive MINT unissued Thompson magazine pouch's from Russia!

A pity to destroy these fine weapons. Why don't they sell them to collectors or dealers and then grant the money to the UN, Red Cross or some other organisation?

The same thing is going on in my country as well. The army's old Neuhausen pistols have always been very sought after by sport shooters, but now the government wants to stop the trade (in spite of all the money they've made selling the pistols). Because of some "non spread" agreement that we've signed, old army weapons can't be sold on to civilians or dealers anymore and have to be destroyed.

Everybody will lose because of that
