    P-38 Magazines?

I have a quick question for the forum. Are the P1 magazines compatible with the wartime P-38s? If not, does anyone know a venue or could you point me in the right direction to obtain additional magazines for my AC-44. Thanks in advance. I want to try and put together a rig including a softshell holster. If anyone might have any of those items available you can pm me as well.

    cheers,

    Keith

Postwar P1 mags will work, but if you want correct magazines you can post a Want to Buy here on the estand, or try gunbroker.com, or www.p38forum.com. Chris..

Post-war P38 and P1 magazines will function flawlessly in a wartime P-38. In fact, many PARTS are also interchangeable, with the exception of some of the safety parts.

I once owned a "cyq" Spreewerke P-38 pistol. After firing about 700 rounds through it over a period of a few years, the front top part of the slide broke, so I had to replace the slide. I purchased an un-issued post-war slide made after 1972, and installed it on the wartime frame and barrel. It functioned well.

The "cyq" pistols are known to have been sabotaged during their manufacturing process. Spreewerke was the only P-38 manufacturer to have used slave labor, and the story goes that most slides after serial number suffix "c" were sabotaged during the hardening process. Your Walther will not have that problem.
