    LATE WAR MAUSER HSc

I am interested in this Mauser pistol, the serial number is 837XXX and it has a Wa135 proof mark on the trigger guard. My question is this piece has a parkerized-phosphorous finish and it seems to me the serial number is too early for this finish. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I'm by far no expert on these, but the finish definitely looks post war to me.

According to this chart, the pistol on gunbroker was manufactured in 1943.

      Not even close

      Not original wartime finish.

As co-contributor to the above production chart, I agree that the finish of this pistol is not correct to time of production. Hard to tell from the photo, but it looks like all Mauser information on the slide has been removed. The Waffenamt was wrongly reported as 735...it should Eagle/135. Also, there is no mention of whether the slide or barrel bear the last three digits of the serial number. Certainly an odd pistol...at best a very expensive shooter.

Definately a post war re-finish job, poorly done at that.

              Hello,
also for me it isn't a WWII finish, sorry.
