Dear Sir,

I own one of these here in Austria. They are fantastic pistols and great value for money. Thousands were made for the West German army for a war that never materialised i.e Russians invading the west, and many never even fired more than proof rounds and were mothballed in grease. They statrted coming onto the surplus market in the last few years in droves.

Its not often I can write this but I paid less than they are selling for in the US, about $300, but hey their has to be some justice in the world and just about everything else is far cheaper in America than in Europe

You guys have it so good.

I would recommend anybody over the pond to get yourself one of these great post war P-38's as like everything else, when they are gone they are gone and who knows their may be many on the market now but in 20 years perhaps these too will be come collectable in their own right.

Alloy frame means P1 not P38. Not Nazi era, just surplus police equipment. Good shooters, but not a WWII collectible. There are a few "force-matched" P38s capture units from Eastern Europe showing up from the big distributors in the US for about the same price range. They are actual WWII captures, with Nazi proofs, etc. But are non-matching serial numbers.

These are stamped P-38 not P-1 like the Manurine French made ones, thats what makes them desirable in my opinion.

These are normal german-army odonance pistols from the Bundeswehr.
I have used them over 15years.
