    98k

Bought a 98k with low turret and scope from gun broker today. my question is about the small hole drilled in the trigger guard my other 98k has no such hole, my GERMAN SNIPER book shows some 98k with this hole in them.why the hole?

the hole was used on WWI gew98 rifles triggerguards and to attach a sling for parade use (i beleive) if you have this on a K98 from WWII i would be very suspicious on your rifle if they said it was the real deal as its not suppose to be there.

Sounds like a Gew 98 triggerguard unit; hole foe sling adjustment.

It could be a late war triggergard for taking the firing pin apart

Vaughn is correct. Sounds like a Gew98 trigger guard. In which case, the rifle sounds highly suspect!
