    Dated 1944 - m44 carbine

Here are some pictures of my 1944 M44. This one has the Izhevsk proof and most of the numbers are matching, but of course was rebuilt after ww2 and put into storage. When I purchased it, the rifle and everything was still covered in cosmoline.

Yummie!!! Nice rifle. I don't mind that they have been refurbished, they are still nice and original. I have the 91/30 from Izhevsk but i'm in the market for either a M38 or a M44 as a shooter, in February I will go to a Miliaria fair where they will probably have some. Mosin Nagants are very good rifles.

Yes you are right, I'm very impressed with it, it is a very handsome rifle. I have shot it, but it is not very accurate, haveing almost none of the rifling grooves left. I can only imagine how many rounds were shot through it. With the manufactered date of 1944, and the worn out bore, i can only assume it saw some war time action. Not many were issued before the end of the war, given the late war distribution. These rifles after WW2 were rebuilt and packaged up to be potentially used in the future, these never got used, purchased by an american and stamped with a PW arms stamp, then sold to the public here in the US.
