          I like it. I think its a type 2
I have one with the serial no. U 8214 that I bought over 35 years ago
from a guy whose older brother brought it back for him after the war.
This has a lot more finish than mine. Mine also has the extra numbers
on the rear of the slide over the hammer drop levere. Should have the serial no stamped under the rear of the slide below the fire pin.

Yes, it is a Polish VIS-35 (a.k.a. Radom), produced under German occupation. It's a Type II (three levers on the left side, no slot in the rear grip). The German proofs (Waffenamts) are correct. I just can't remember to have seen the numbers stamped above the decoking lever before...

Here is mine serial no. U 8214 with a set of numbers also above the lever. I
thought it was a mismatch when I first got it till I removed the slide and found
the serial number up inside the bottom. It had with it a P38 magazine modified
to fit it that worked great. If the price is right you should get it. Looks like
it was brought home and left in the holster and forgotten from the looks of
              the finish.

This will be one of the best shooting pistols you will ever own! I love mine.. It's value is between $400 and $600 but the holster adds to that.. If you can get the whole rig for under $700 you are doing good..

                    Terry,

                    Thanks for posting your Radom.
Does anyone know what is the meaning of this number?

                        John Mack,

A very nice "Radom" you have there, congratulations.

As others have replied, it is a Type II, subvariation 2 (late). Estimated production quantity for this variation is in the 72,000 range.

The significance of the number above/underneath the decocking lever has not been explained, to date. It begins to appear in the Type II, T serial block and generally advances numerically as the serial numbers advance.

Also, a similar number may be found on the left side frame underneath the grip plate. Though not on all pistols in Type II (late) variation.
