I have been thinking about this:

Is it possible to find out about a soldiers name and were he has been and what could have happen to him, out from the weaponnumber on a
Mauser 98K ??

Yes and actually the soldbuch would also have to have the maker and date as well as there were dozens of 98ks with the same serial number and letter suffix...and probably hundreds with the same number alone.

...Which is not normally recorded in the Soldbuch, where the entry is usually only something like: K98k (number w/o suffix.) An occasional exception is for some pistols which can be ID'd by their SN if the maker is given; I have a Soldbuch where the entry is: Mauser 934128 = HSC by the SN.

I think it sounds too difficult to find out who has been walking arround, and where with a 98k.
