It is hard to appreciate just how big the T-Gewehr is without handling one in person, so here are some more items I hauled out for a size comparison.

As you can probably tell I really enjoyed making the photos and posting them here; I hope that others find the subject matter to be of interest.

very very nice, theres a few of them here in NZ, one old Collector friend of mine used to shoot his one years ago,hes only a little guy and the rifles bigger than him,it must have been quite a sight.

Love the MG08 and 08/15 rig also,a very fine assortment.

      Regards

Bill Grist probably has a couple hundred crates of ammo for this in his attic....

Amazing rifle, it must have been pretty wild firing it....the act of pulling the trigger on this monster must have been almost as scary as being under fire!

                    Very nice to see Alan.
Here's a couple of photo's of a display I did at a local auction a few years ago. This was a combinded effort, I borrowed the anti tank rifle from another collector friend to display it with other WW1 & 2 items from my collection.

                    Cheers
                    Mike

Great rifle,,, I have seen the one at Aberdeen, but forget the details re: on the buttplate.

Any ideas on the stock? Does the "R" in the stock represent replaced? That stock is neither walnut, beech, or oak... and appears to be elm... I can't quite decide. Congrats...

That is one very interesting rifle! I like the details of the soldier having written his name on it.

Mike: Thanks for adding your photo; you put on a nice display and your friend's T-Gewehr looks great with the tubular-type bipod in place.

Bob: I believe the stock is made of elm wood, as indicated by the "R" ("Ruster") marking.

Jean-Loup: Yes, the vet's name and the information the seller provided about him (as originally obtained by the seller c. 2003 when the rifle was acquired from the vet's son) is a really nice bonus. I did not pay any premium for the history, but it sure makes the rifle more enjoyable.

                            Alan
