    Please help regarding "Boss" flintlocks

I know this is not strictly on topic here but not sure where else to ask. Is it possible that a set of these Boss flintlock pistols are worth around $45,000???. He said they are one of the best three examples known to exist from this maker. Im afraid I just really wanted to know if it is a good maker and possible they could be worth that much?. For all I know this make might be worth about $100? but I am lead to believe they are among the best in the world.

I am not buying them, but a 3rd reich dealer is lodging them as collataral with me along with some SS daggers (that I am happy with) against an $85,000 legal case that I won when he ripped me off. These flints need to be worth roughly half of the debt and although he has paperwork with them I did not want to get shafted.

    Thanks for any help

Boss is considered the best or certainly near the best. If this is a cased set of duelling pistols and they are finely mounted and engraved they could certainly be in that value range. It would be impossible to say without a close examination, but the top English makers of this period (early 19th century) generally command a premium.

As said before Boss is very sought after but...you absolutely would need to take them to a competant arms appraiser to have them checked out. They are faked (isn't everything) and faked well. Durs Egg is another comperable maker of the era and his work too is heavily faked. If the pistols are indeed a matched set of dueling pistols they would be worth around 30-40K unless they were a very special set in which case the value can top 100K.

Based on the prior history of the individual you are dealing with I would be very, very careful with these arms.
