this is a bit cheaper than the one that sold in the Auction of stuff from Avranches, which went for 6000 euro or a bit more

have only had two of this the 43/1 in hand, one with the notch cut in the scope rail, the other without, dont know why it was filled in

is there a scope out there? oh and some pics in use from another MP thread, this one looks to have the cut out on the rail

                43 dated also

the story on how I picked this one up, there was a magazine special on german weapons and the fold out main picture on the inside was of an MP44 (or so I thought at the time) I was about 14 or so and dreamed of owning one, then a few months later Ryton arms advertised MP's for sale, a good friend of ours, knew the guys there well and offered to take us down there and said we would be able to go into the store room and pick one out, of course the one with the long barrel nut jumped out at me, so for my Birthday, my Dad bought me this one. Later on our friend who took us went back and picked one up for himself, this was the one I saw with the notch cut in the sight rail, I seem to re-call that his was numbered higher than this one

                    John,
I don't think the notch was filled in, they were just made with two types of scope rails. I also recall seeing a repro mount on ebay few days ago for something about $350.

                    Regards
                    Jacek

                      Hello Jacek

sorry, when I said "filled in" I mean that it looks like the die for production of this part had the notch at some point, but was re-worked for production without notch, though you might be right and I am wrong

                      cheers

I don't feel so bad now. I paid $8500 for my C&R MP43/1 with original 1.5x scope and mount ~ 7 years ago. I must be spoiled after using a 4x ACOG for over 15 years-- a 1.5x scope sucks! It forced me to seek out a StG44 with rail for the 4x scope.

                            Mp38

Hi, in a similar vein whilst surfing around looking to see where all those Russian capture P38s have gone I came across an MP38 for sale at a web site called Gunstar, the price is £6,800 or $11,000! I know that they are less common than the MP40 but thats a lot of dosh. Also it looked like there was a bit of fin rot on the foresight so not even a mint example.Regards an ex gun collector.
