Can anyone tell me what kind of gun this is?

I got an old German handgun that I do not know what it is. My father has owned it over 55 years. It is stamped as made in Germany by Hubertus and appears to be military. The bolt is large, flat and round. It looks similar to a flare gun but the barrel reduces to about a 9mm. Please e-mail me if you think you can help and I will send pictures.
