nice rifle! probably taken by vet, he put on a m1 garand sling, shortened the stock and used it as a hunting rifle!

                kind regards

                      Arisaka

You did good with the mum on it! Plus you have the dust cover for the bolt. Just a quick look at ebay, there are a couple stock sets up right now, some completed ones in the 180$ range with the metal hardware. Try Sarco or Numrich if you end up needing some metal parts. Chris...

completed auction dust covers on ebay are 45-60$ alone......

Be sure and buy a Type 38 stock, and not a Type 99 stock, if you plan on restoring it. Also, since the bolt isn't matching anyways, it won't be sacrilege to replace it with an un-bent bolt.

                          Hey guys,
So the barrel isnt cut, just the stock? Maybe I will think about replacing this stock and bolt. I own one other arisaka and this one even though sportorized is in so much better shape. i want to go shoot it . Can anyone confirm that the sling goes to a garand and is wwii?

Yeah, it would seem the only issues with the rifle are the cut stock and bent bolt. Replace those parts and you should be good to go.

The sling is a WWII Garand sling.

If you're going to replace the bolt, please be sure you have a gunsmith check the headspace before you fire it.
