    P.38 Webbing Lanyard

    Hi guys

I frequent fleamarkets sometimes here in Norway, and I am always looking for German militaria. In august I found a strange looking webbed cord. I thought it looked interesting, and did not study it much before I bought it. At the time I remember thinking I should have bargained but I felt bad for the seller because his table was filled with unwanted toys and junk, I also bought a German Zeiler flashlight.

Later on I found a P.38 stamp on the cord, and though it was for the German mauser/walther pistols. I put it away in a drawer and forgot about it. Yesterday I found out it was a lanyard in some posts here on the forum.

Here is some of the history:
"Norway received a large amount of these in the period 1940-45, and after the war they went into arsenals together with many of the P.38 handguns. The army then burned many of the lanyards, and a few still remain. Many have been exported to collectors overseas" (probably to many members here )

As with most German gear they are being faked. I was hoping there were some
P.38 experts here who knew a good lanyard from a bad one... I was wondering if my lanyard was genuine or not.

Also if they have any DAK/Tropical significance due to their webbing and color.

Im also posting pictures of two holsters and a byf p38 that belong to my father. one has NATO markings and the other one P38 marking on the bak. Are both german issue?

I hope so. I paid $2 for this lanyard. If its a replica my loss isnĀ“t much, at best I have a very cheap replica lanyard. If its a real one I just saved about 5-600$$! Whatever the case may be it stays with the gun on display.

I was hoping some P.38 experts could share some knowledge. It would be much appreciated.
