    General MG-34 Question

    Hello!

I'm planning a purchase of a semi-auto MG-34 (by www.tnwfirearms.com) as it's the closer of the real "live" thing (all genuine parts except receiver) I can leagally own here in Canada.

They have many maker / years available and I wanted to know what are the "best" years / makers for this firearm. It's my first MG-34 and I'm not really versed on this field.

    Many thanks!

The earlier barrel jackets are often considered to be more desirable if for no other reason then they had a more hazardous voyage to survive the war. Most parts kits out there now are DOT 44 or DOT 45. The less common ones are BSW, S243, AR, diamond in a circle Rheinmetal code, etc. All things being the same and I have a choice of a DOT 44 or 45 code or something else, I would consider the something else.

I think they refinish their parts so original finish is not an issue.

      Hey Wolff,
I personally would have gone for the BNZ(Steyr)Austria. They are a maker of high quality guns.Helps too if own the Steyr AUG,SSG.P2,K98k,and the M95.My opinion of course.

The main thing Wolff you should make sure that your 34 works ok they do have issues such as super stiff trigger that takes two fingers to squeeze of a round reason sear spring too stiff, ejector pin being too short causing jams,The gun will need some tuning up with a file and some krokus cloth.Debur edges put a slight bevel on the lower receiver. If you need help PM

Good luck they are good guns though.

However, Steyr's late war MP44 and P-35(p) are the most crudely made weapons I've ever seen

True towards the end they kind of looked unappealing. But they still worked .
