Another fake on Egun: MG42 SM svq 655k

    Here it is:

    http://www.egun.de/market/item.php?id=2969532

After 2 years of development the new fakes from Sauer Militaria are really good

Here are some comparisons. Sorry, it is German language, but you see the differences.

    Best regards,
    Christian Kada

Hello Dennis, thanks. It´s an origin one, used postwar by the Austrian army (BH stamp). Only the eagle marking on the wodden butt is a funny fake...

            Best regards,
            Christian

Hello Michael, thanks for the flowers. I like to share my knowledge with other collectors and so I do. In future I will try to share more knowledge but at the moment I have little time because at the moment I finish university. After that I will post some more details...

That´s normal, because Russia does (did) not sell old guns to the market. A lot of the Russian captured guns were sold until now by the Ukraine, but the most people think that these guns are from Russia but that´s wrong. The Russian dealers and collectors have to buy their deactivated guns outside from Russia. So there are guns from the UK, from Germany,... For example the faked MG42 comes from a German dealer

I am in the process of saving up to buy my first MG42 so this is worrying news, it is also good to come across this post to educate myself a bit more. Can anybody recommend some trusted dealers within Europe that I could keep an eye out for a decent example. PM if necessary.

This is a good thread that can help weed out mg42 fakes. What about the buffers on 53s and 42s ? I know there are slight differences between the fitting threads so a 53 butt will not fit well on a 42 buffer and vice-versa without leaveing a small gap.
Does any body think you can fit a post war butt to a genuine war time buffer if the butt was made between 1945 and 53 ? just thinking post war butts of between there dates may be made useing same war time patent?

There´s also a topic about these MG42 fakes in a Polish forum:

                                http://forum.ioh.pl/viewtopic.php?p=291775

To e-maus from the Polish forum: Did you buy this MG42 fake? If so, did you return this item to the dealer or not? If you want my help send me an email: christian.kada@parabellum.at

                                Kind regards,
                                Christian
