Ammo can I.D.?

Does anyone know what type of ammo can this is? Eastern European or German?

it'd help more if you added a couple more pic's....like a full side, full top, then a closeup of the handle well area on the lid. can you make out any stamps in the well under the handle?? like a waffen amt......post a few more pics and i'll try to help...best, rich

ok...no rush.....the under the handle area is important. thats were the stamp will be if its really a German one....it'll be a small eagle with a swaz and a "WaAmt" followed by a 3 digit number. best, rich

I went over every panel on this thing and found no stamps.

Hi. It is a Czech ammo box for ZB-37 machine gun.
After the occupation of Czechoslovakia, Germany took over the production of this machinegun and called it MG37(t). This machinegun was widely used by the Waffen SS and police battle formations. The ZB-37 was also in 7.92 cal, so the Czech ammo boxes was also compatible with the German machineguns.
Even thou the pictures you have posted are relatively small, this ammo box is easy to identify due to the distinct construction of the closing device of the lid.
