A couple of what looks to be Russian casings

Forgive me if this is not an appropriate subject but I found these two bullet casings that appear to be Russian while out hiking in the Mojave Desert. Can anyone shed some light on if these are military surplus or just commercial ammo? They're likely nothing but I know it would drive me nuts if I didn't ask. It just seems like an odd type to find over here.
