After posting a picture in another thread, a member contacted me about the barrel jackets markings. He stated he was doing research on the BSW and related barrel jackets and asked if I could take some pictures of the BSW jacket I have. So, in a attempt to help out and once again set the art of photography back 50 years, this is what I came up with:
Five barrel jackets: 2 BSW, 2 dfb, 1 code 936
BSW 38: it does not show up well, but there is a WAA to the right of the 4 in the serial number
the marking near the first hole on the jacket:
BSW 39
Code 936
dfb 41
dfb 42
The dfb 42 jacket appears to have a Weimar Eagle mark on the jacket. I think this is because the hole part of the jacket is not original to the chamber end with the majority of the markings. The reason I say that is because while this jacket has the newest date of the five, it has a 4 hole pattern which should not have appeared on any 42 dated jacket. I think the parts from two barrel jackets were used for repair purposes at some point and a 42 dfb ends up with a 4 hole pattern
Top is dfb 41 and bottom is drb 42
I hope this helps in your research.
