      Old Luger

Hi Miraul, What you have there is an artillery luger used during ww1 or even in ww2. You could take it and soak it in a bucket of kerosene and maybe salvage some of it or spend a lot of dollars and have a gun smith to grid her down and find all the small parts that need replaced. Then again you could always use it as a billy club But I;ll admitt it was a once in a life time discovery. ConGrads Danny

        Artillery Luger

        Hi,

Your find is what is called Lang Pistole 08 (LP-08) or, as the collectors usually said, Artillery Luger. It had a 8" (200mm) barrel, and adjustable sights up to 800m, around 150,000 pistols were made during 1913-1918 both by DWM and Erfurt Imperial Arsenal and were issued to NCOs and Enlisted Men who should carry a rifle but couldnĀ“t use it for some reason (Artillery gunners was one case - hence its name).

Many were destroyed after WWI because the limit created by the Versailles Treaty, which forbid the use of any gun with barrel longer than 4". Although havng severe pitting, you may can clean it and restore it partially, at least to put in your wall.

        Nice find and congratulations.

        Regards,

        Douglas.
