I thought that these are only proto types and there is only some pieces in museun in Russia.
But now there are lot of these guns in sale!!

I don't think that these are original
Somebody have to made them pots war, but why

SVT 38 or 40 is nice gun and very fun to shoot, but why to spoil these guns?

      Hello Jame,
the carbine version of SVT 40 has existed, but only few thousands were produced.
You can find some informations in this well made website:

      http://www.mosinnagant.net/ussr/svt401.asp
      http://www.mosinnagant.net/ussr/Svt-Photos1.asp

I know very little about this rifle, however the carbines you have posted have shorter heat shield than the "official" carbine version. Also, both stocks have lost the typical russian lacquer finish, this mean they are surely re-worked but not in a russian arsenal. Maybe a nowadays gun-smith has shortened them? It's only a guess.
These rifles are very rare, in my opinion if now a lot of this guns appear on market this may indicate a start production of fake pieces...

          Hello Jame,
the threads you have suggested are very intresting, what I have read seems support the fake theory... also the Balkan field-cut idea is improbable for me... I still think they are modern fakes.
These SVT 40 carbines are too rare and, probably, we have a chance to see a good one only if we go in a russian museum.

          Regards
          brus
