    Belgium Hi-Power Serial Number

    A little help here.

    I'm looking at a Belgium Nazi Hi-power with WaA140 markings. The serial number he gave was 83XXa. I asked about date of manufacrure, but he didn't know. Been all over the internet looking, but haven't found anything on WW II serial numbers. Would anyone have a good source that would convert the serial number to the year of manufacture.

    I will not help you with that, but I also have Belgium nazi HP pistol, with s/n 95085. I would be also interested about date of manufacture.

      Refer tp pages 186, 187 and 1888 in "The Belgian Browning Pistols" by Anthony Vanderlinden. It will give you some timelines to go by!

        Thanks for the info. Now I have to find the book. I have one on German pistols, but it does go into serial numbers.

            If the book has detailed info as far as markings, etc., it would be helpful for other things besides the serial number. The only numbers he sent me were 83XXa which I understand is within second group of 100,000 pistols, 283XX. One of the web pages had that info. While I'm looking for a book, could you look in yours and let me know the date. Guess one more book won't hurt. I'll pass them all on to my son.
