    Unit marked Flare Pistol, WW1?

    Hello Gentlemen,

    I have this big fellow of a signal pistol. It is in excellent condition and unit marked, "11 p 111" and some additional markings in the same area (see Pics).

    Can this be dated? Was "WHF" the maker? It took me many moons to find this flare pistol.

    Any opinions would be appreciated.

    Happy Huntng,
    Vince Leone

    Austrian Leuchtpistole;
    W.H.F. = Waffenhauptfabrik (main weapons factory),
    E.A.XI = Erzeugungsanstalt (production institution) 11

      It should be austrian M1904 LP, with Roux locking system, the S lion 8 speaks for postwar using by Czechoslovak army, the 11P proof should be for 11 Infantry Regiment, possible is that there is a older unit stamp. best regards,Andy

          The Austrian Hebel M-1904 goes for about $400+ in Europe, I would imagine the Czech markings would add some value bringing it to $500+ or so.

          I have 8 standard length barrel Austrians in my collection and 3 short barrels 2 of them with Czech markings, and one of them unit marked.

          There is also found a VERY SHORT Barrel Austrian Reworked by Italy in 1924. I have two of these in my collection. These are a true rarity.

            So,

            Which barrel length is this considered? Standard? I am sure it is not short!
            Thanks for the info.

                      Yours is a standard length barrel 227mm, If the barrel were ~ 4" shorter 155mm that would be the short barrel. The very short barrel has an ~ 85mm barrel.
