    M1 Carbine Paratrooper Stock

    Hello,

I just put a M1 Carbine on layaway, pretty good price i think anyway. I want to make this a paratrooper model since it's a parts guns. I have seen several available but not lately does anyone have a "get this guys" or "avoid this guys product" type of opinion. The hunt is now on and would like to do it right from the get go. The reason i am asking, i have heard that the wood is all the same and pistol grip construction is very good but reports from certain manufacturers is the wire/steel buttstock portion is were some fall short.

    thanks

try Numrich (Gun Parts) they have a fairly decent reproduction para stock that i believe is Italian made and is of good quality construction.

A few years ago, I bought one from Sarco. The metal must be soft because after only a short while, the latch would not stay locked open. The small stud that is part of the lock is worn away. I'm considering spot welding the stock open as it is no fun to shoot with the stock folded. When folded, the pistol grip is infant-sized. I ended up putting the original stock back on it and it's been that way ever since.
