    Mp44/Stg44 receiver question

Recently acquired an StG44 (fxo assembled, dated 45) with a mauser receiver (marked byf). I know a fair bit about the other manufacturers, but cannot find a lot of information about numbers of receivers made by Mauser. I have read Handrich's tome on the 44, but it doesnt have a lot of useful information regarding mauser receivers. Was curious if any folks here were aware of approximate number of receivers made or source in which to look, and the general rareness of mauser made receivers. Thanks!

    Stg Receiver

Since I see in the handle you live in the US. I take it that this is an NFA item registered to you with ATF? If not you do realize you are looking at 10 years in club fed for having an unregistered MG (even if it is just the receiver).

Thanks for the info. However, I am aware of the NFA as well as local law, and my ownership of the weapon fully complies with all of the above.

I believe there is little (if anything) printed about the byf receivers because they appeared late. Is your rifle an "aj" block fxo? What style is the receiver - does it have a rib over the magwell or is it smooth there? Also, there is a rib under the StG44 or MP44 stamp. Is it full length over the trigger housing or does it stop halfway? Lastly, what is the serial number? I have 2 aj block fxos, both with byf receivers and a friend has several. They are fairly common in very nice condition because many were captured at the factory or wherever they went immediately after that before seeing any action. We have been talking about them recently on the G/K43 forum where you can see some photos. I think the thread is "My StG44" or something similar.
