    duffy,

Jose's photos are pretty good....looks more like a reject marking to me.

Ask Jose about the marking on his gun...he is a very knowledgeable guy....he surely knows the difference.
And he will definitely tell you “like it is”.

The VOPO marking photo that I posted is on one of two MP44s that I own.

    David

I also own a "cyq" code pistol in the "F" block (Sn. 5118 f )....the finish on Jose's gun looks better than mine.
Unless his photos are more flattering than mine.

(I would go with Leon's advice he is very, very saavy in this P.38 world.)

      drm2m,

I agree with you on how Jose provides good photos....he seems to take
time and effort in doing such, I have noticed this with his items.

I think what I will do is think about it for a bit, but so far I feel that it would
be a good purchase from what you have pointed out with how you have
      even dealt with Jose, etc.

Now that I have seen the difference between a VOPO sunburst and the sunburst that is
on the p38, I feel more comfortable with believing that the one on the P38 is not postwar.

Your photos of the p38 that you have are great......and so is the p38!

For your MP44's....nice work, those are tough to find.

      Over and out.

        duffy,

I found this older photo of the reject "asterisk" marking on
        a Walther P.38 ac41 which I no longer own.

Repeated from a post below is a VOPO sunburst marking on an MP44.
The number 10 in the middle of the marking represents the personal acceptance number of a particular inspector ...I think.?

The next two photos are of a "F" block "cyq" code P.38 which is
serial numbered a little later than the "F" block "cyq" that
you are considering purchasing from Zefarm.

          drm2m,

Thanks again for the photos and information.
I was looking at the photos of the P38 that is at Zefarm earlier, and I'm not
100% sure it has 2 sunbursts....I can clearly see one, but cannot confirm
that the second stamping is a sunburst....I can't say for certain.
Perhaps I should email him and see if I can get a close up of the area?

            Duffy,

Whatever concerns you have...... put them squarely on the table for him.
He should respond.......as I think he will.

I suspect there comes a point where you have to sh.t or get off the pot.
You count on the best wisdom that you can assemble.....and then you have a decision to make if you want the gun.

You are probably pretty close to that point

              drm2m,

              Thanks for the advice....I agree.
I will send him an email perhaps tomorrow and will see what he says.
Your correct though, I'll have to sh** or get off the pot!
