How effective is this to remove bluing?

    Hi,

Anyone knows or have been used this product?

I need to remove the incorrect finish from an old gun (moderns hot bluing from a C96 bolt and hammer) but first I would like to know if this thing works...

    Thanks in advance,

Cold blue can easily and safely be removed with a product like Flitz, you are asking about hot blue and will be more difficult.

The product that you posted certainly works. You will need to have a running water source right there as the metal will need to be quickly neutralized or it can be etched (lightly grayed) very quickly. Apply it with a swab, rub with 0000 steel or brass wool and then douse with plenty of water...check results. I would soak the parts in motor oil overnight to be sure all acid is removed and then clean with solvent and apply gun oil.
